AI Overview

Compiled by AI from community sources — may be incomplete or inaccurate; verify before relying on it.

The Golden Medmon is an edible, hand-collected fruit from the Maru Ebony Tree that players gather from temperate-biome flora across the verse, then either eat as a food consumable or sell as a low-value trade commodity.

What it is

Golden Medmon is a fruit, not an animal part — a piece of harvestable flora. In Star Citizen's lore it is native to Jalan (Elysium IV) and has been cultivated by the Tevarin for centuries. The fruit grows on the Maru Ebony Tree in temperate climates and is left to drop off the tree when ripe before being collected. Freshly fallen fruit is very firm and astringent and is effectively inedible in that state. It only becomes palatable after a softening process known as "bletting" (ethylene ripening): the skin wrinkles and darkens, the flesh loses moisture, and it develops a sweet, creamy texture often compared to caramel or caramelized lactose. The Tevarin traditionally eat it raw, while humans typically let it soften first. The fruit is also noted for its nutritious, moisture-rich seeds.

Gameplay use

In-game the Golden Medmon functions in two ways. First, it is a hand-harvestable item: players physically pick it up from Maru Ebony Trees in the world (it is one of the long-standing harvestables that have existed since around patch 3.7). Second, it doubles as a consumable food item — eating it restores hunger and thirst and applies Energizing and Hydrating effects. It can also be sold as a bulk trade commodity (code GOLM) at refinery/trade terminals. There is no evidence it is a crafting ingredient or a Wikelo/vendor turn-in; its roles are food consumable and minor trade good.

Effects

As a consumable, Golden Medmon provides the following (per Universal Item Finder data): - Hunger reduction (NDR): 39 — better than the common Cruz consumable's 30. - Thirst reduction (HEI): 19 — weaker than Cruz's 38. - Energizing: 2400 - Hydrating: 2400 All other stat categories (cognitive, metabolic, immune, and toxic effects) register as zero, so it is a straightforward food/hydration item with no buffs, healing, or poison beyond the hunger/thirst restore.

Value & where to sell

Pricing is volatile and patch-dependent. As a hand-carried food item, a single Golden Medmon has a base price of about 209 aUEC at vendor terminals across roughly 10 locations (examples include Levski in Nyx; Bloom and Terminus in Pyro; and ArcCorp, Crusader, and microTech in Stanton). As a bulk SCU commodity (GOLM) it trades at a much higher per-SCU rate. Recent UEX data showed a best buy around 51,000–54,000 aUEC/SCU (e.g. Shepherd's Rest) and a best sell around 59,000–71,000 aUEC/SCU (e.g. Ashland, The Golden Riviera), for a margin in the ~28% / ~19,500 aUEC-per-SCU range. Treat all figures as approximate snapshots — they shift every patch.

Where to harvest

Golden Medmons spawn on Maru Ebony Trees in temperate / savannah biomes. A well-known, repeatable spot is on Hurston (Stanton) near the HDMS-Oparei outpost, where at least two Golden Medmon fruit trees sit roughly 9,900 m from the outpost. In-world the ripe fruit appears on the trees that sway most noticeably in the wind; players approach on foot and collect the fallen/ripe fruit by hand. Note that lore lists Jalan (Elysium IV) as the species' true homeworld, but that system is not a playable harvest location — in the live game it is gathered from temperate-biome trees on existing planets/moons.

Source

Golden Medmon is flora — it is the fruit of the Maru Ebony Tree. There is no source creature; the existing catalog entry's "no source creature" value is correct. The tree grows in temperate climates and the fruit is collected after it ripens and falls.

Grades & variants

No documented grades or variants exist for the Golden Medmon. Unlike graded animal-part harvestables (e.g. pearls or fangs), the fruit is a single, uniform item with no A/AA/AAA or juvenile/adult tiers found in any source. The only "states" referenced are lore flavor (firm/unripe vs. bletted/softened), not distinct in-game grades.

Physical data / stats

- Item size: S1 harvestable; occupancy ~1,400–1,430 µSCU (≈0.0014 SCU) per unit. - Commodity code: GOLM. - Listed manufacturer/category: "Consumable" (some commodity listings credit GENF). It is naturally grown, so no real manufacturer applies.

Lore & trivia

- The fruit is native to Jalan (Elysium IV) and was cultivated by the Tevarin for centuries before humanity's contact with the species, making it one of the alien foods that crossed into human cuisine. - Humans and Tevarin prepare it differently: Tevarin eat it raw, humans blet (soften) it first to bring out the sweet, caramel-like flavor. - It is one of the original hand-harvestables that have been in the game since the ~3.7 era, predating much of the later resource-collection gameplay. - It became a minor community talking point for its oddly specific 209 aUEC price and unusual "Golden Medmon" name (the subject of community videos and posts about harvesting one's "first Golden Medmon").
